One family's experience We asked Simona, mom of the FB group Its4kids for some tips on how to best visit the Ravenna Safari Zoo
The Ravenna Safari Zoo offers two ways to visit: you can drive or train through it and explore a dedicated area on foot. Each area allows you to see different animals and have unique experiences.
In the Safari area you can choose to use the park's internal train, an option I highly recommend. On board the train you will find buckets of carrots already provided, at no extra cost, to feed the animals. It's an engaging experience for children: divide the carrots at the beginning and don't run out of them all with the giraffes, because the zebras will get close too! The guide offers fun and informative explanations perfect for all ages. In the car you have more flexibility with the timing, but you will miss the explanations and have to buy the food for the animals yourself.
In the walk area you will find another short train to visit the monkey area: really recommended! As soon as you enter the park, buy a bag of feed, but watch out for the baby goats, always ready to try to steal it from you. Among the best experiences is a walk among the meerkats, a chance to observe these curious little animals up close.
If you start your visit early, half a day might be enough, but factor in a little more time if you want to take advantage of the food court. Here you will also find an inflatable area for the little ones. Be careful: some play areas are free, while others charge a fee.
Lunch is a bit expensive. We brought our own packed lunch and then grabbed something on the spot. There are plenty of picnic tables
