Cervia, Pinarella, Milano Marittima

Cervia, Pinarella, Milano Marittima, which one to choose?

Cervia

Cervia has an ancient and fascinating history, dating back to Roman times. Many monuments and places of historical interest can still be found in the city's historic center, such as the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, the tower of San Michele, and the salt museum.
The symbol of Cervia is the watchtower known as Torre San Michele, one of 8 towers built in the 15th century to protect the town from Saracen invasions.
The historic center of Cervia runs along the canals of the old harbor. Here you will find excellent little cafes and seafood restaurants.

Pinarella di Cervia

South of Cervia the beautiful Pinarella owes its name to the thick pine forest between the town and beach, perfect for playing and strolling in the warmer hours.

Cervia

salt.
Cervia salt is famous because it is a sweet salt, with shades of pink and gray: characteristics that make it especially valuable.

The saltworks of Cervia is a nature reserve, so it is not possible to access the salt pans independently, but only by guided tours.
There are many activities planned during the open season, from March to November: hiking, electric boat, bicycle, train and canoe tours. During the visits, in addition to the discovery of an area of great environmental impact and interest, it is possible to discover the secrets related to salt and the history of Cervia.
Don't miss: the excursions by small train and those at sunset are particularly impressive.

Nature Park eCerviAventura

The Cervia Natural Park is a great alternative to beach life.
It is a 32-hectare oasis within the thousand-year-old pine forest; aprotected area where you can get in touch with nature, local vegetation and lots of animals. In fact, here you can find horses, donkeys, buffaloes, baby goats, sheep, deer, pigs, rabbits and other small mammals.
"In the Old Farm" has been organizing and offering educational, awareness, knowledge and approach activities for a few years now.
The Park, where it is not possible to camp or light fires, boasts several trails and shady spaces, picnic and recreation areas.
Also born within the Nature Park is CerviAvventura, a adventure park designed specifically for families, children and those who enjoy outdoor activities. The adventure park offers nine tree trails, for all ages and of different levels and heights, to enjoy this wonderful green corner even from above (in maximum safety, of course)!

The butterfly house in Cervia

The Hervia Butterfly House is definitely worth a visit, especially during bad weather or as an alternative to the beach. The visit can take half a day.
It is a hub for biodiversity and it is recommended to visit it starting with the introductory moment of "The invisible threads of nature," and then moving on to the outdoor garden, with its botanical trail of plants and plant installations; the butterfly hotel; and "The Caterpillar," the greenhouse that houses and protects local butterflies.
The house of insects is a pavilion dedicated to insects of air, water, and land and houses local species as well as the most extravagant and unseen ones. But the main attraction is the large tropical butterfly greenhouse, with tropical temperatures (between 28 and 30 °C with 65-70% humidity) and butterflies from Asia, Africa and America.
Butterflies in this special greenhouse complete their entire life cycle, and are born from chrysalises inside two nurseries.

Daedalus: a long corn maze

There is a very unique place around here, and one that exists only a few months a year, from June to September.
It is the Daedalus Labyrinth, the largest in Europe in the midst of corn. It is designed and made each year at planting time, and then physiologically dies to harvest. Inside it each yearpaths are created, winding, intricate, and only one leads to the exit.
Throughout the period it is open to the public, activities and workshopsare organized for families, children and adults, including themed entertainment activities.
The goal? To step out of the ordinary and challenge oneself in an almost surreal setting, but also to gain some more knowledge about this incedible plant.
The plantation covers about 8 hectares, with a walk of just over 3 km, extendable up to 10 km maximum. However, there is also a "baby" maze for the little ones. Wonder and fun are assured.
